Osu Everyone!

Last Thursday Jun Shihan Mel was very generous in his praise of myself and Grey's participation in the recent Open Martial Arts
tournament in Bay Ridge.
But what he didn't mention is how he and Senpai Gabe graciously agreed to act as judges at the last minute in response to the pleas
of the organizer over the PA system.
Both had already paid their entry fees and planned to compete on that day, and yet both sacrificed valuable energy and time in order to let other martial artists from dojos near and far have their moments in the "spotlight."

Somehow, after a full day of judging (and dealing with irate "karate parents") Jun Shihan still found the energy to perform a wonderful kata. It was a real treat to watch and was worthy of a top placing.

Finally, I also want to thank Senpai Gabe for putting up with all my nervous questions and Senpai June and Senpai Kevin for their watchful eyes and constructive commentary when my turn came. It was great to feel the support and strength of the West Side Y Seido behind me!
